✅ We're very excited to introduce the world to FLAC2D's new, large-strain, automatic remeshing functionality for extreme displacement continuum modeling. This extends and improves upon FLAC 8.1's rezoning logic, making remeshing easier to use for multiple constitutive models in the same simulation, dynamic models, and coupled models.

✅ Based on your feedback, we have added the Munson-Dawson creep constitutive model for simulating excavations in evaporites.

✅ The automated factor-of-safety analysis can now exclude regions of the model undergoing shear-strength-reduction. Exclude local failures to produce global failure values. The factor-of-safety analysis can now proceed if null and elastic constitutive models are part of the model, providing greater flexibility.

✅ Easily use the Sketch tool in FLAC3D to extrude a 2D profile along a linear or curved path, define a domain offset or extent, and automatically generate a complete model from the extrusion out to the domain boundary. Use the same paths for different profiles or use different paths. This will be ideal for modeling tunnels, for example.

✅ The concrete constitutive model can now be assigned to structural support elements, such as beams, piles, shells, and liners. And circular shell elements can be easily added; couple these to piles and the concrete constitutive models to efficiently simulate thick concrete columns.

✅ Many new examples/verifications for FLAC3D and FLAC2D have been added to demonstrate workflows and aid in learning.

And more improvements to strain-softening models, the Sketch tool, Python scripting, the Hoek-Brown Rapid Tool, and fluid flow in 3DEC.

💡 Also, as part of this v9.6 release, ITASCA is excited to announce the release of BETA versions of MPoint2D and MPoint3D, ITASCA newest software the utilizes a material-point-method (MPM) approach for extreme and immense deformation analysis. These products can be used on their own or coupled FLAC3D or FLAC2D. Ideal for modeling earth structures, tailings dams, and landslides. ITASCA is actively seeking BETA-testers to provide feedback on MPoint prior to being officially released.

🚀 Point releases are available to anyone with a Version 9 subscription, or maintenance, license of FLAC3D, FLAC2D, 3DEC, PFC3D, PFC2D, or MassFlow.

We look forward to having you attend the event!
