Established in 1993 in Santiago, Chile, Itasca Chile SpA (formerly Itasca S.A.) provides applied geomechanics and hydrogeology services, mainly to clients in the mining industry and engineering firms. The office leads Itasca's services in Latin America, and its team has a wide range of expertise, from fieldwork to the practical application of numerical modeling tools for consulting services in geomechanics and hydrogeology.
Since its inception, Itasca Chile has provided consulting services to the most important mining companies in the region, including all divisions of CODELCO Chile, Minera Escondida Ltda., Compañía Minera Doña Inés de Collahuasi, several Anglo American divisions in Chile, Southern Peru Copper's operations in Toquepala and Cuajone, Minera Las Bambas in Peru, Anglogold's operations in Brazil, Debswana's operations in Botswana, and DeBeers' operations in South Africa, among others.
The General Manager of Itasca Chile is Martin Brown, a Civil Engineer with 20 years of experience in water and environmental management for mining projects and operations in various countries. He has led development and operational teams in hydrogeology, water resources, environmental management, fluid transportation, tailings storage facilities, and mine dewatering.
Hydrogeology services are led by José Luis Delgado, a Civil Engineer specialized in Hydraulics, with more than 20 years of experience in water resource management for the mining industry, including 3D numerical hydrogeological modeling for mine supply and dewatering.
Geomechanics services are headed by Rodrigo Silva, a Mining Engineer with more than 20 years of experience in geomechanics applied to both open-pit and underground mining, including slope stability and underground stability assessments.
The technical staff of Itasca Chile is composed of more than 40 consultants with specializations in geomechanics, hydrogeology, and geology. Additionally, the administrative area is led by Rolando Sanderson and includes seventeen employees working in information technology, accounting, human resources, occupational health and safety, and document management.
